This dataset contains crab survey data from the intertidal zone in Fangyuan, Changhua. The purpose of this survey is to investigate changes in the crab composition and soil properties following the construction of the Fangyuan Wetland Trail and the removal of mangroves. The crab survey are conducted every three months in March, June, September, and December. The sampling sites from the Conservation Project of Wetlands of National Importance are continued to utilize, with a new sampling site in the mangrove removal area. Starting from the second year, an additional sites under the Fangyuan Wetland Trail and another within the mangroves are established. Starting from October of the third year, three additional sites are established both at Hougang River Mouth and Hanbao Wetland, with surveys conducted in January, April, July, and October.

プロジェクトデータ

As part of the national synergetic effort, a research team led by the National Changhua University of Education has conducted a multi-year project (LTSER Changhua) which aims to adopt the context of LTSER at Fangyuan, Changhua, to monitor changes in the social-ecosystem of coastal wetland and agriculture-fishery. Considering Changhua’s coastal features, findings from previous studies, local industrial networks, and stakeholder relationships, the implementation of the LTSER Changhua project will show three broad impacts. First, it can establish a multidisciplinary work force to conduct place-based research for monitoring and understanding the long-term dynamics of socio-ecological systems. Second, it can scientifically and quantitatively illustrate the transformation of coastal wetland ecosystems, agricultural and fishery social landscape, and local sustainability. Third, it can accumulate observational experience, and standardize operating procedures for long-term observatory projects. Therefore, the major tasks of this project include: cataloging existing research and survey data, organizing and analyzing social and ecological issues, conducting core project observations, connecting stakeholders, and establishing a place-based core project database.

研究の意図、目的、背景など(デザイン) This research endeavor is rooted in Fangyuan Township, Changhua County, Taiwan, and applies the Press-Pulse Dynamics (PPD) framework to identify crucial monitoring indicators such as benthic crabs, water quality, topographical variations, and soil microorganisms. The objective is to track the enduring transformations in the coastal socio-ecological systems. Besides carrying out environmental and ecological assessments, this project also amasses a wealth of socio-cultural data, encompassing local statistics, depth interview transcripts, and news articles. These resources are harnessed to build a comprehensive, usercentric, and visually appealing database of the socio-ecological system, intended to optimize the utilization of the gathered data and act as a reference point for multiple sectors. In addition to basic monitoring, this project also focuses on significant issues such as green energy development, changes in mudflat wetlands, and mangrove ecosystems in the area. It aims to provide long-term scientific monitoring data to promote the harmonious development of the socio-ecological system. During the course of this project, we prioritize forging constructive relationships with local stakeholders. We persistently refine the amalgamation of various academic disciplines in our research, aiming to bolster our meaningful contributions to both local sustainable development and national policy formulation. In particular, this project will utilize crucial indicators to observe the long-term dynamic transformations within Fangyuan Township. Simultaneously, we amalgamate local statistical data, depth interviews, news reports, and other socio-cultural information to conduct a profound analysis of how human endeavors, including green energy development and mangrove management affect the local socio-ecological system. Moreover, this project will leverage remote sensing technology to gauge the net primary productivity of land ecosystems, laying a fundamental groundwork for evaluating the ecosystem's functional services. We engage experts from various disciplines for a joint research effort, aspiring to establish a scientific foundation for the sustainable growth of Changhua's coastal regions. In addition, we strive to provide references for decision-making concerning the socio-ecological impacts stemming from Taiwan's energy transition process.
