Description
This dataset is composed of firefly (Lampyridae) survey data collected by Dr. Jen-son Ho during his life-time service in the Taiwan Endemic Species Research Institute (TESRI). The raw data was reinterpreted and converted into DwC data format by Taiwan Biodiversity Network (TBN).
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 3,380 records.
1 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Sampling Methods
Original observations are recorded with identification of species, observation date, spatial locations, individual counts, life stage, gender, temperature, humidity, and the name of the recorder. Some individuals were captured and measured, with measurement data (body length, body width) provided in the Measurement or Fact extension.

Method step description:
- For spatial locations without coordinates, we assigned the coordinates by rounding to the nearest land mark based on the information in the location fields, and provided an estimate of spatial uncertainty in the uncertaintyInMeters field.
