Supported by CTBC Financial Holding Co., Ltd. and Taiwan Green Energy for Charity Association (TGECA), Ceta explorers Co., Ltd. has been conducting cetacean surveys in the sea area around Guishan Island, Taiwan. This survey aims to study the behavior and habitat of local cetacean species, which can further help us understand their status and improve conservation strategies. Additionally, it allows whale-watching operators to promote local ecological knowledge and participate in the conservation of natural resources, aligning with the core principles of international sustainable tourism to achieve the vision of "human-whale coexistence."

Boat-based cetacean survey.

Área de Estudo The study area for the survey is the sea around Guishan Island, Taiwan. The survey began in March 2024 and is expected to continue for three years. It mainly focuses on cetaceans.
Controle de Qualidade The data is collected by Ceta Explorers Co., Ltd., and we are responsible for ensuring its quality. Our standard operating procedures include the following: 1. Before the survey, our team ensures that the surveyors are experts in species recognition. 2. During the survey, our team ensures that the surveyors are responsible for their allocated tasks. 3. After the survey, our team ensures that the collected data, such as GPS coordinates and sighting information, is accurate.

  1. Sightings were recorded throughout the survey. Recorded information includes coordinates, species, group size, and behavior.
