Larval fish in the Tamsui river estuary

This dataset has never been published

An intensive sampling experiment was carried out at three stations in the Tamsui Estuary, northern Taiwan, during June and July 2012, with time intervals varying by hour, diurnal phase, and sampling date. A total of 5,302 larval fish were collected. With the aid of DNA barcoding based on morphology, there were 131 taxa identified, belonging to 52 families, 91 genera, and 78 species.

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 951 records.

This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.

Sampling Methods

Ichthyoplankton net with 90 cm in diameter, 180 cm in length and 330 μm in mesh size

Study Extent Tamsui River estuary, Northern Taiwan

Method step description:

  1. Ichthyoplankton nets were towed for 10 min at a boat speed of 2 knots. Zooplanktons including larval fish were sacrificed immediately by preserving in 95% ethanol for subsequent morphological identification and DNA barcoding.
