Sampling Methods

Fresh specimens were collected with their host plants, studied in the fresh stage, dried and deposited at TNM.

Study Extent Samples were randomly collected mainly in northern Taiwan (Taoyuan City, New Taipei City, Taipei City).
Quality Control Fresh specimens were morphologically identified as well as based on the ITS barcode.

Method step description:

  1. Morphology and hosts were checked against the monograph of powdery mildews of Braun & Cook (2012), Utrecht, the Netherlands. Internal transcribed spacer sequences were checked against GenBank with BLAST searches and with phylogenetic analyses. Hosts were checked with Farr, D.F., & Rossman, A.Y. Fungal Databases, U.S. National Fungus Collections, ARS, USDA. https://nt.ars-grin.gov/fungaldatabases/
